VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS

Requirements: Previous youth experience (optional). (Live Scan required for volunteers on a consistent schedule)
Summary: The Child Development Center gives children in the Tenderloin access to enrichment programs to help provide a safe environment for them to learn, play, and grow. Volunteers can support our educational workshops, help kids set and achieve personal goals, assist at outreach events, distribute clothing and groceries, and much more!

Requirements: Able to lift and carry up to 30lbs and stand on your feet for long periods of time. (Live Scan required for volunteers on a consistent schedule)
Summary: The kitchen cooks all of the food used for the Child Development Center and Hospitality Hub. It’s more of a behind-the-scenes position and no food experience is required. Volunteers can expect to cook and assemble raw ingredients into a meal, and then help hand the meals out to the kids and residents.

Summary: The Hospitality Hub is SFCI’s most direct ministry in terms of contact with the residents of the community. It’s an active, fast-paced environment, so volunteers can expect to unload food delivery trucks, assemble grocery bags, prepare to-go or sit-down meals for residents and help with deliveries.

Summary: The Dental & Vision Department provides essential health care services to residents of the Tenderloin community. Volunteers support staff in a fast-paced, hands-on environment by helping with patient check-in, organizing supplies, preparing exam rooms, assisting with clinic flow, and providing hospitality to patients. This role is a unique opportunity to directly serve and care for the health needs of our neighbors.
