What We Do

We are on a mission to make an impact in the Tenderloin by providing relief efforts and a place of community to anyone in need.

HOW WE DO IT

We have a strong desire to see the city of San Francisco transformed by impacting the Tenderloin District and we do that by serving the immediate needs of the community.

  • City Academy

San Francisco City Academy seeks to inspire students to become lifelong learners through a creative and rigorous curriculum. Throughout each school day, students will engage with standards-aligned content through direct instruction, collaborative group work, and individualized tasks to ensure not just knowledge acquisition, but relevant application.

  • Health & Wellness

Total Wellness goes well beyond the bounds of traditional medicine.

We offer dental work and screenings, blood pressure monitoring, blood sugar level testing, foot care, minor scrapes and abrasions, physical health screenings, hygiene kits, and access to a network of specialized services.

*This program is relaunching in fall 2022 due to COVID

  • Rescue Mission

The Rescue Mission is a space where anyone can walk in, sit-down, be encouraged, receive a hot meal and have people available to listen, and connect them to greater resources. Our Rescue Mission serves hot meals and a distributes grocery bags to homeless men and women and families in need.

  • City Kids

Approximately 2,300 kids under the age of 18 live in the Tenderloin, a neighborhood gripped by extreme poverty, addiction and violence.  We will focus our efforts on reaching an increased percentage of the children and youth of the Tenderloin to provide education, mentorship, and community support. City Kids gives children in the Tenderloin access to after school and community enrichment programs to help provide a safe environment for kids to learn, play, and grow.

  • Adopt-a-Building

Going door-to-door in Single Room Occupancy apartment buildings (SRO’s) we provide groceries, hygiene products, and visitation to the elderly, shut ins and families living in 10 x 10 cement apartments with the goal of breaking the barrier of isolation by building long term relationships and providing food, hygiene items, and other basic needs.

  • Street Outreach

Going back to what started it all, every week we head out into the Tenderloin with sandwiches to hand out to the homeless. We have conversations, build relationships, and let them know of the services we provide.

Meaningful Connections

OPPORTUNITY

Tenderloin residents are economically disadvantaged and under-resourced. For those living on the streets and even for those housed in one of the many low-income SRO buildings, accessing basic needs like organic meals, dental care, social impact and even community are a daily uncertainty.

As one of the top 10 technology hubs in the world, San Francisco boasts innovation, creativity, self-expression, and even genius. But below the 60 story beacons of progress sits the city’s 8,000 homeless. Take a stroll down Market street and you will see hundreds of high-end retail stores neighboring the poorest neighborhood in the city, The Tenderloin.

Nearly 50% of San Francisco’s homeless population exists within the boundaries of District 6, which includes the Tenderloin. Just 50 square blocks, the Tenderloin neighborhood is home to over 28,000 residents, with nearly 1 out of every 3 residents living dangerously below the poverty line.

SERVICES

There are hundreds of SRO Residential Hotels in the city of San Francisco, which are home to over 30,000 residents. Residents are often paying the majority of their monthly income towards rent which leaves a very small margin for food and other necessities.

With 16,000 people at the highest risk of food insecurity in District 6, our Adopt A Building program meets the basic needs of over 11,000 residents by providing meals and weekly visitations to 20 SRO buildings every month.

We provide quality dental services on weekdays as our complimentary services to them. We know the pain and long process to get their teeth fixed.

We make it easy for our patients to get the best dental treatment without extensive paperwork.

Before and after every visit our dentist takes this opportunity to evangelize and pray with the patients in the process.

Tenderloin is a community of highly motivated individuals seeking meaningful necessities & services provided by the various agencies.

We at the SF City Impact have been able to provide quality products and new clothing as complimentary to them.

They are grateful and confident knowing we are here to serve them with our daily donations from the bay area.

We aim to give them dignity and respect. God has placed us to serve them with His Provision! We want to give them the best service possible.

In a community often known for violent crime, drug usage, and extreme poverty, City Academy is a safe place for children to grow academically and spiritually.

Small class sizes allow for individualized academic instruction, ensuring each student has the opportunity to succeed. Our STEAM Resource Center exposes students to the growing fields of science, technology, engineering, art, and math. For students who need additional educational and developmental support, our Social Services Department connects occupational therapists, speech and language pathologists, and academic interventionists to students in need. Together, these resources prepare students for competitive careers and help them to break cycles of poverty.

City Kids provides a safe place for children in the Tenderloin to learn, explore, and grow spiritually. Our goal is to ensure every child is given access to the education, mentorship, and community support they need to overcome their circumstances and become leaders in their community.

Through City Kids, we provide an after school program for students to receive homework help in a safe environment, one-on-one mentorship, academic and spiritual summer programs and camps, and weekend events for community enrichment. City Kids is committed to giving each child access to practical resources for their academic and personal development while welcoming them into a supportive and safe community.

SERVICES

Serving over 200 meals and groceries a day and visiting nearly 30 buildings each week, we remain committed to addressing hunger head-on while also providing opportunities for spiritual fulfillment, community engagement and awareness of resources. Through our personal and practical approach to hunger, many individuals have experienced life-changing transformation in the midst of substantial challenges.

Our program seeks to feed the Tenderloin neighborhood through 3 main avenues:

Balanced meals are prepared and served twice a day at our Hospitality program where residents have a chance to also hear a gospel message. These sit-down meals create opportunities for residents to make meaningful connections and become part of a caring community.

Access to organic meals helps abolish barriers to food security, eliminating tough decisions the Tenderloin community must make each day to simply survive. This enables them to get connected to resources, receive community support, and break out of the cycles of poverty.

Meals and groceries are delivered door-to-door in SROs each week for residents who are unable to attend our daily Hospitality program (like the elderly or disabled), allowing for additional opportunities to provide access and awareness to other helpful programs and resources.

For residents who are often overlooked or forgotten, meal deliveries serve as a reminder that there is a supportive community eager to help them through their daily challenges and meet their basic needs.

A daily grocery pantry is open each afternoon with varying selections of fruit, vegetables, eggs, and other donated items. In addition, families from the community can sign up to receive nutritious produce daily.

For individuals facing homelessness, job loss, and economic insecurity, consistent access to fresh produce provides immediate relief to help residents get back on their feet. For families in need they have access to fresh produce and can now enjoy during meal time!
